TecH2O hangs welcome sign for volunteers

TecH2O hangs welcome sign for volunteers

TecH2O is seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of needs, which may include events. Students needing credits may also volunteer.

To their delight, TecH2O Learning Center team members are busy fielding requests for field trips and events now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted at the utility.

El Paso Water’s TecH2O is an educational center showcasing the Chihuahuan Desert and its water resources.

As the team transitions to business as usual and fills out the TecH2O calendar, team members are also putting the call out for volunteers once again.

Calling all volunteers

Pre-pandemic, TecH2O team members relied steadily on an army of volunteers to help the center reach thousands of educators and students every year. TecH2O staff members host field trips for students and public educational events for the community, as well as visiting schools around El Paso.

Jesse Hall, Water Conservation Technician, who also serves as TecH2O’s Volunteer Coordinator, said the welcome sign is always out for volunteers through the year. Needs vary from preparing educational materials and taking photos to assisting with Willie presentations and events.

“We’re always looking for volunteers because there are things that we could use help with constantly,” Hall said. “We want to let everyone know we are open again and need volunteers.”

Help wanted

El Paso Water employees, such as Utility Engineer Associate Emma Saucedo-Cordova (from left) and Engineering Lead Technician Desiree Dominguez, also volunteer to help at TecH2O events. TecH2O’s small staff organizes dozens of programs and events throughout the year for students, educators and the public to foster understanding and appreciation of managing El Paso’s water resources in the Chihuahuan Desert.

With TecH2O’s calendar filling up fast, staff members are eager to welcome teachers on break for the summer, students looking for credit, partner agencies or anyone else willing to help with educating the public on conserving our water resources.
