El Paso - El Paso Water will soon begin improvements to Arroyo 1 in west El Paso. Residents are invited to a come-and-go style open house to include an overview of the project, examples of green infrastructure and opportunities to speak with the project team.
Bounded by neighborhoods and the Franklin Mountains, Arroyo 1 is a natural arroyo that converges at the intersection of Bear Ridge Drive and Franklin Hills Street. Improvements will help reduce flooding and protect private property by slowing the velocity of stormwater, preventing erosion and the clogging of Bear Ridge channel with silt and debris. Construction will begin this spring and is expected to be completed in winter 2024.
