River Bend Drive to be closed between West Sunset and Turnstone

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso, Texas – River Bend Drive will be closed to all traffic between Turnstone Drive and West Sunset Road for approximately two weeks beginning Monday, March 28, while El Paso Water Utilities completes a stormwater project. Crews are replacing three storm drain pipes, each 6-feet in diameter, that collapsed under River Bend Drive at the White Spur Drain crossing. The project is scheduled to be completed by April 8.

Impact to commuters

River Bend Drive will be closed to through traffic beginning at about 10 a.m. Monday. Signs will direct commuters to bypass the construction area by using Lazy Willow, Willow Glen and Turnstone drives.

  • West Sunset Road commuters will be diverted at Lazy Willow.
  • River Bend commuters will be diverted at Turnstone.
